Rhetoric and music
You are invited to a virtual activity!
Musical rhetoric is an aspect of 17th and 18th century musical culture and practice in Europe. It is an artistic, intellectual and aesthetic phenomenon but also a field of research and field of study, which today interests both music historians, musicologists and musicians, in particular musicians specializing in baroque music interpretation on old instruments.
Francis Colpron will give a comprehensive overview in a fun lecture, including general benchmarks for oratorical rhetoric as well as musical practice by discovering treatises, scores and key musical excerpts.
